Doesn't work, but worth a laugh2010-08-251 / 5
I bought this elsewhere for much less. I bought it knowing it wouldn't work very well, and indeed it does not. Enough force to get a guaranteed result makes a guaranteed mess. Randomly, it does what it claims. When it fails it tend to be spectacular, with bits of egg everywhere or whole eggs scooting off in unexpected ways.

Construction is flimsy. If it were more solidly constructed it might be a little less random.

We get our eggs fresh from a nearby farm, so if, as other reviews note, it works poorly with fresh eggs, then I can expect more of the same. But randomly chaotic results can be entertaining, so by all means, if you don't much care what happens and are ok with eating mostly-exploded eggs, you may find it fun. You can take bets on the outcomes. It beats what's on TV many nights.

NOT suggested for serious kitchens, the humorless, or anyone living within sight of a flock of vengeful chickens.

Cheaply constructed2010-06-165 / 5
out of the box, I had to fix a hole in the plastic to stop air from escaping, this is a cheap piece of garbage, yeah, it does work at times as advertised, but the designer could have made it a more quality product, i would have gladly paid extra for something more durable.
Not 100%. Works 1/2 the time2010-05-223 / 5
We boiled 8 eggs & it worked only 4 times so I saved about 1/2 the time we normally would if we had only peeled them by hand.

If you want to save money, and NOT have to buy this item, use this trick, which I got from a professional cookery magazine. To peel hard-boilt eggs quickly, CRACK THE SHELL A BIT, BEFORE PUTTING IT IN ICE WATER, OR UNDER COLD WATER. Doing this will get the ice water/ cold water, IN BETWEEN THE EGG AND THE SHELL, and not just be on the outside. Bingo -- you eggs are peeled almost as quickly as the "eggstractor" can do it. Of course, if you have 100 eggs or so to peel, then maybe the Eggstractor is a good purchase! (To be fair, however, I must mention that, if you peel eggs without the Eggstractor, you have to get your own egg-slicer, which is included free, if you buy the Eggstractor.)

not for me2010-02-082 / 5
I was excited to try it but found that in order to get it to work you'll have to clean up tiny egg shell shards from your kitchen. You'll find them for weeks as the shell is essentially exploded in all directions. It was fun once and much more work than just peeling the eggs like the rest of the world has for thousands of years. Not worth your time...
