| A TRUE LIFE STORY of never giving up... | 2010-07-18 | 5 / 5 |
|
"Around" is a film of self-fulfilling prophecy, of lost communication, of losing and finding love, and in the process, losing and finding yourself.
Too often, we take on the pain of those we love most, mirror the hurt of those we need the most, those we try to hold onto, those we try to hide from, those we try to find and to fix, those we eventually struggle to free ourselves from. "Around" envelops us, takes us into a world of cold brick, steel and glass, of shattered relationships. A place where the reflection that stares back is distorted in shame and blame, shivering in the cold, ready to break-- and then comes the realization that is not our reflection, that it was never about us at all.
Sometimes we are so busy looking around, that we don't see what is right in front of us, nor do we realize what we have until it's gone. Sometimes we never know the difference, nor can we change, until we have the courage to come back to the point where it all began.

| This movie is GREAT. Not spectacular but great. It has a story we all need to hear and see. The actors were unknown but did an excellent job. Rob Evans the leading man is as good an actor as who he looks like: Ryan Gosling. |

| A life time of emotions packed into an hour and twenty-six minutes. This is not lite entertainment. This is a series of life lessons. The venue is perfect New York/New Jersey hyper-drive life pace, of explosive energy. Well done film on so many levels it would be a shame to let it pass by unseen. |

| This movie is about someone you know. Everyone knows someone like Doyle Sims, a likeable wisecracking charmer who just can't learn to rely on anyone else. This movie invites you to know a little more about a person like him, the things that drive him, the people who help shape him, the city that he loves. This movie, to me, is like slipping into comfort. I find myself relaxing, waiting, holding my breath to see what his next move is, and even laughing out loud. It seems so much like telling stories over dinner with an old friend, a good glass of wine, a worn pair of jeans, or just coming home. |
